Zebra mapping maps black and white stripes on objects. In the case of NURBS Models and fitted NURBS Patches, this is useful in reviewing the continuity of NURBS surfaces. In the case of Polygonal Models, zebra mapping is useful when reviewing global surface continuity.

  • The continuity between two adjacent NURBS surfaces is displayed as follows:
    The stripes on either side of the common boundary will be continuous through the boundary if the two surfaces have G2 continuity.
    The stripes on either side of the common boundary will be continuous in position but will have an orientation discontinuity if the two surfaces have G1 continuity.
    The stripes on either side of the common boundary will not be continuous in position if the two surfaces have G0 continuity.
